Apprentices face real pressures at work and outside of it. EarnLearn provides access to confidential wellbeing support and regular check-ins, helping learners stay well, supported, and able to focus on building skills on the job.

Healthy lifestyle support

Support to help apprentices maintain physical health and energy at work. Access to nutrition coaching, healthy lifestyle guidance, and holistic wellbeing options such as Rongoā Māori. Regular check-ins help identify when extra support is needed.

Mental health support

Confidential mental health support when it matters most. Access to professional counselling through Vitae, available nationwide by phone or video. Support covers stress, anxiety, grief, substance use, and other personal or work-related challenges.

Financial support

Practical financial advice to reduce stress and build confidence. Certified advisers provide guidance on budgeting, debt, KiwiSaver, insurance, and long-term planning to support financial wellbeing.

Legal support

Clear legal guidance for personal matters affecting wellbeing. Phone-based legal guidance covering family, tenancy, consumer, and property matters, helping individuals understand their legal position.

Mental health support

Mental health support for life and work

Confidential counselling and wellbeing support to help apprentices stay well and engaged.

We offer a range of mental health services designed to support apprentices through work and life challenges during their apprenticeship.

Support is confidential, accessible, and focused on helping learners stay well, engaged, and progressing at work.

Counselling Support

Through our partnership with Vitae, apprentices and employees can access confidential one-on-one counselling with experienced professionals nationwide.

Vitae has over 400 qualified counsellors across New Zealand, allowing learners to access timely support for both work-related and personal concerns.

Counselling can support individuals with:

  • Managing stress and anxiety

  • Coping with change, grief, or loss

  • Workplace or relationship challenges

  • Career transitions

  • Parenting concerns

  • Gambling, alcohol, or substance use

  • Trauma, pain, depression, and emotional distress

Based on over 50 years of experience, an average of two to three counselling sessions leads to measurable improvements in wellbeing and workplace performance.

Support is available via phone or video conferencing, which is proven to be as effective as face-to-face sessions. A 24/7 freephone number and email support are available, and self-referrals can be made via web or app.

Suicide and Self-Harm Support

Vitae’s Mental Wellbeing Check-In resource provides clear, compassionate guidance for anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide.

This resource encourages early support and includes:

  • Practical tools and self-awareness checklists

  • Guidance to recognise emotional warning signs

  • Immediate support contacts, including:

    • 0800 543 354 for urgent suicide prevention support

    • 0508 664 981 to book a confidential appointment with a qualified counsellor

Drug and Alcohol Awareness

Legal support

We provide confidential legal guidance to help apprentices and their families or whānau understand legal issues that may impact wellbeing, stability, and focus at work.

Through Vitae’s Legal Assist service, individuals can access practical, phone-based guidance from an experienced consultant, offering a clear starting point to understand their legal position before deciding on next steps.

  • Delivered by phone, with access to up to two hours of guidance

  • Provides preliminary or short-term advice to help understand the law and available options
